Flotilla 054-03-01

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 054-03-01, known as 31, is located in Richmond, Virginia and is the oldest flotilla in the nation. This is an all volunteer civilian organization serving the needs of the boating public. We also serve as a volunteer augmentation force for Coast Guard operations. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by Congress in June, 1939, to assist the Coast Guard in promoting boating safety. It is composed of approximately 26,000 dedicated members from all walks of life who are drawn together by their love of the water and a willingness to serve the boating public. Its members receive specialized training so that they may be a functionally active component of Team Coast Guard. Members contribute diverse experiences and their time to support Coast Guard activities, both domestic and abroad.

Auxiliarists assist the Coast Guard in programs such as water safety patrols, search and rescue, marine environmental protection, public education, IT, telecommunications, Coast Guard Academy introduction programs for youth, and the Auxiliary University Program. Auxiliary members volunteer approximately two million hours annually to benefit the boating pubic and Coast Guard activities. Please remember to contact the National Response Center at 800-424-8802 for reporting suspicious activity, oil spills, hazmat releases, and America's Waterway Watch.
